Hawaii's Only Alpine Lake

Hawaii's only alpine lake is shrinking fast, with no end in sight. The water level at Lake Waiau, located just below the summit of 13,803-foot Mauna Kea volcano on the Big Island has been dropping dramatically since early 2010. The lake (pictured here at normal size) is now almost completely gone.
